Grape Variety:
Grauburgunder Old Vines "Geißkopf" from Weingut Benzinger.
A powerful yet elegant Pinot Gris from the Palatinate, characterized by old vines and the special expression of the Geißkopf site. The old vines yield low quantities, but provide all the more concentration, depth, and structure in the glass. A wine with substance, origin, and great character.
Color:
Vibrant straw yellow with golden reflections, dense and brilliant in the glass.
Taste:
On the nose, ripe pear, yellow apple, and quince, accompanied by subtle notes of hazelnut, herbs, and a hint of honeydew melon.
On the palate, full-bodied, creamy, and assertive, with ripe fruit, fine spice, and pleasantly integrated freshness. The old vines give the wine depth, richness, and length, while the finish is juicy, elegant, and subtly mineral.
Suitability:
An excellent companion to veal, poultry, mushroom dishes, creamy pasta dishes, pan-fried fish, or aged hard cheese.
Also a very enjoyable wine on its own for those who appreciate substantial, elegant Burgundy wines.
