Grape Variety:
Riesling from Lesom from the Mosel.
The "Tal" is a Mosel Riesling from steep slopes, aged in old 1,000-liter Fuder barrels, typical for the region. The wine is unfiltered and clearly bears Lesom's signature: natural, precise, and with a strong sense of origin. The name "Tal" (valley) is an homage to the steep vineyards of the Mosel Valley, which demand hard work but also produce particularly characterful wines.
Color:
Bright, light golden yellow with a slightly cloudy shimmer, which suits the unfiltered style well.
Taste:
Fresh and animating, with fruity expression, clear Riesling tension and at the same time a little more calm and depth due to aging in the Fuder. The wine is described as delicately fruity, full-bodied, elegant, and calm, with an open, lively character that is typical of Mosel but doesn't appear too playful. Retailer websites mention pear and a fine exotic or spicy note, among other things.
Suitability:
Very good with heartier dishes, especially if fruit, spice, or subtle sweetness are involved. One retailer explicitly recommends it with duck with orange reduction or lamb with peach couscous. It also works well on its own for anyone looking for a slightly more textured, characterful natural Riesling.
Serving Temperature:
Depending on the style, serve rather chilled; one retailer website mentions 3–6 °C. This is quite cold; in practice, it may often show well slightly warmer.
